Amy Sallenbach is a multi-disciplinary artist who has purposefully left the constraints of gravity behind, one way or another, via dual careers in the arts and aviation. Born in Calgary, raised in southern Alberta, she graduated from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2001, narrowly escaping attending her own final graduating jury critique by going into labor immediately after installing it. This timely birth earned her the honorable distinction of 2nd best excuse to get out of your final crit (1st place went to contracting flesh eating disease in case you're wondering). Her work focuses on integrating a sense of connection with the spirit of invention, expressions of emotion, mental health and the human condition. She has exhibited throughout Western Canada and in private collections coast to coast. Currently a core member of the Tree Frog Collective in Edmonton, a multi generational, multi disciplinary, semi nomadic group of artists hosting events, seeking out and activating temporary spaces. Currently residing in Parkland County, she continues to have excellent timing.
